Based on Larry's observations as an executive coach, the transition from manager to director is treated by many organizations as a non event, when it should be viewed as a major career transition step.
Organizations often don’t recognize the difficulties involved in this transition, and assume that the experience previously gained as a manager will be enough to prepare them for the challenges at the director level. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case.
Larry will address what OD leaders can do to help organizations address this critical leadership transition.
Bio: Larry Kroh is an OD & Human Resources consultant with 30 years experience in Human Resource management and consulting, specializing in executive coaching, organizational development, change management, teambuilding, onboarding, inboarding, post-merger integration, and leadership training. His clients have ranged from technology startups to Fortune 500 companies, representing a broad range of industries. Previously Larry held senior Human Resource generalist roles with American Express and The Coca-Cola Company, and directed global training and development for The Coca-Cola Company. He received his BFT from Thunderbird School of Global Management (Glendale, Arizona) and B.A. from Michigan State University (East Lansing Michigan). Larry has presented at professional meetings and authored multiple articles, including two in OD Network publications: “Crossing the Great (Management) Divide: The Business Case for Inboarding”, published in OD Practitioner, Spring 2012, and “Mergers & Acquisitions: The HR Paradox”, published in OD Seasonings, April 2007.
